Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept pet portraits?
Yes, I accept pet portraits as well. Because pet portraits are just as difficult and have their own difficulty, they have fur, scales, different skin colours, etc, they cost the same as human portraits.

Do you have any paintings for sale?
Every portrait painting in my gallery is not for sale. But the good news is I will offer some landscape oil paintings for sale soon on this website.

What paint do you use for your drawings and paintings?
I use graphite wooden pencil and mechanical pencil from Staedler ranging from 4H - 8B. And for the oil painting, I use high quality brands like Winsor & Newton and Rembrandt. I occasionally use student grades like Winton & Georgian for the initial sketch / layer.

Will the graphite drawing get smeared if I touch it?
No, as long as you don't rub it hard. The drawing will be sprayed with artist quality fixative from Winsor & Newton upon finishing to protect it from smearing.

How long does it take to finish a drawing or painting?
Graphite drawing usually takes 1 - 2 of weeks to finish each. Oil painting can take up to 1 month or even 2 months for a complex painting (several heads in 1 painting) to complete. This is only the estimated time without calculating the shipping process.

Do I need my oil painting to be varnished?
Yes. But which varnish you choose is totally up to you. If you need to get the painting quickly, you can choose the retouch varnish. But I still recommend you to send it to your local artist to get it varnished with a final varnish. A minimum of 6 months after completion is required to avoid cracking. Varnish protects your oil painting from dust and dirt. It extends the life of your oil painting and the painting looks much better with the varnish, as it removes dull spots and uneven glossiness. Varnish can be removed along with the dust and dirt that accumulates over the years.

What kind of varnish do you recommend?

I find Winsor & Newton Artists' Gloss Varnish (final varnish) works best for my oil paintings.

Can I varnish my painting after 6 months myself?
I recommend you to go to your local experienced artist to have your painting varnished. The varnishing process itself is easy, but more than often, you need to clean the painting first from dust and dirt with solvent and you can easily damage the painting during this cleaning process if you don't know what you're doing.

Do you include the frame when shipping?
No. Shipping a glass frame is risky. Plus you get to choose your own frame if you buy it yourself. Your own colour, your own size, your own ornamentation to match your room as you see fit.

What frame should I use?
For graphite drawing, a frame with glass, to protect it from dust. For oil painting, a frame without glass, because oil painting needs to "breathe".

How are the paintings being shipped to the customer?
The paintings are carefully packed with shock resistant materials in a big cardboard box, layered with plastic sheets to protect it against collision and liquid. For drawing on papers, additional plywood will be given to strengthen the package.

How do I place an order?
You can contact me from the contact page (click here). And from there you will get an email from me. Then we can discuss the medium, size, and photo reference via email.

Can I order several paintings & drawings and request them to be shipped together?
Yes I can, I will pack them together to minimize shipping cost. Each artwork will be secured separately inside the package so they don't rub each other.

Can I track my package?
Yes you can. You will receive an email with a tracking link as soon as I ship your painting to your location.

What payment methods do you offer?
For now, I accept payment via PayPal - account or credit card. Available worldwide.

Are taxes for customs included in the price?
No. Taxes for customs will be handled by your country’s custom service.

How long will shipping delivery take?
Shipping to the US or Europe from Indonesia usually takes about 1 or 2 weeks.
